Uncle Sigh Gets a Kiss from Tito before the 2014 Kentucky Derby

Uncle Sigh Gets a Kiss from Tito before the 2014 Kentucky Derby

Of course, Saratoga is a spa–not only for humans, but also for horses.  There really is something in the good, clear, honest water of Saratoga Springs–even the stuff that’s called, “tap water,” that’s good for the body and soul.  I’ve always believed that that benefit extends to all living beings who partake of the unspoiled H2O that bubbles up out of Mother Earth–and certainly, that includes the Thoroughbreds who come here to race, and to relax.  (Yes, they DO come to relax:  I visited Afleet Alex in his barn during the summer of 2005, when he was in town just to chill after his team discovered his leg problems.)

So!  While some like Afleet Alex come here to rest and rejuvenate, no one at Gary Contessa’s barn is taking any chill pills.  Uncle Sigh, the beautiful son of Indian Charlie–owned by Wounded Warrior Stables (Chip McEwan) and Anthony Robertson– did a fantastico trip on the Oklahoma yesterday morning.   I’ll step aside, and let the Blood-Horse‘s Frank Angst tell you about it.  Welcome to Saratoga, 2015, Uncle Sigh!   Here’s hoping that the waters, clean Adirondack air and even the ground that your hooves touch contribute to your sense of well-being, and good health.

:)
